V.O. (Bill) Tuominen, 73, retired logger of Clarkston
Villio Oliver (Bill) Tuominen, 73, a retired logger, died of a heart attack Wednesday at his Clarkston home.
He was born April 12, 1923, to Kalle and Helma Makitalo Tuominen at Crystal Falls Township, Mich.
He grew up and attended schools in Michigan, where he lived until entering the U.S. Army Feb. 9, 1943. He received an honorable discharge Nov. 8, 1945.
After his discharge he returned to Michigan, where he lived for a short time before moving to Orofino, where he worked at a nearby lumber mill.
He married Christina I. Matson June 4, 1955, at Orofino.
He worked as a sawyer in logging until a heart attack in 1980, after which he retired and moved to Clarkston.
He enjoyed carpentry work, all types of woodworking and working with his tools. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 18 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 10043, both at Lewiston.
Survivors include his wife of Clarkston; one stepdaughter, Helen L. Tank of Clarkston; one stepson, Harold L. Matson of Clarkston; two sisters, Lila Vassar and Evie Process, both of Green Bay, Wis.; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
